How To Make Your Own Herbal Bath Tea

One of the easiest ways to turn an ordinary bath into a special and luxurious soak is to add fragrant and health-giving dried herbs, flowers, fruits and spices. Don't worry, you won't have to become an expert herbalist.

And you won't have to become a plumber to maintain your bathtub drain free from clogs of rose petals and mint.

Choose your favorites or try a new challenge if you're feeling adventurous. Classic options include rose petals (moisturizing), mint (invigorating) or chamomile (soothing). For something different, try cloves (increases circulation), lavender (healing) grapefruit peel (refreshing).

Next, decide on the kind of container you want to use for your collection of dried flowers and herbs. To make a simple cloth tea bag, use a square of cloth about 6 inches square. Fabric that is not dyed is best because you won't be adding chemicals or unwanted colors to your bath. Muslin or cheese cloth work well and are inexpensive.

Fabric that is not dyed is best because you won't be adding substances or unwanted colors to your bath. Muslin or cheese cloth work well and are affordable. Just place a small handful of your tea mix into the center of the fabric, fold up every one of the ends, and secure with string or rubber rings.

You can use a pretty ribbon for visual appeal but make sure it does not contain dyes.

If you have an assortment of tea accessories handy, you can use a tea ball or bamboo tea basket instead. Now determine if you wish to let your bath tea soak in the tub with you or if you would rather steep it in a bowl of hot water and add the liquid tea to your bath.

If the mixture you chose is not as aromatic as you like, add a tiny drop of essential oil to your bath for aromatherapy. Now, just sit back, relax and soak it all in.
